Happiness is teaching Preschool!
Hi! My name is Jodi Lawrence. I am one of the new Preschool teachers! I have been teaching Head Start in the Family Resource Center for the last two years. I really enjoy working with the little ones! They are always fun and full of energy! I am looking forward to moving to a classroom in the elementary building this year and being part of the elementary staff.
This is actually going to be my 34th year in education. During my teaching career, I have taught every grade in elementary, except fourth and sixth. That included two years as a para in kindergarten and Title Reading. I have even taught a few college-level classes. I started my teaching career at Worth County R-III and ended up retiring from there in 2018. After a short break, I decided to return to teaching with substitute teaching and ended up with a job teaching Head Start. Short retirement...Lol. I graduated from Northwest Missouri State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary/Middle Jr. High with a minor in Science. After teaching a few years, I went back and received my Master's Degree in Educational Technology. Through the years, I have enjoyed spending time with other staff, students, and parents doing things in and out of school settings.
My mom Marvel and my dog Piper live with me in Blockton, Iowa. I have lived there most of my life. Some things I like to do for fun is working in my flower gardens, traveling, quilting, riding four-wheelers, and sitting out by the fire pit in the swing or lawn chair. I enjoy getting to spend time with my family.
I think this will be an exciting year, getting to meet all of the kids and their parents! I am looking forward to being a Mt. Ayr Raider!
