Mrs. Shaffer's Class
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! I am excited to get to know a new group of students and their families! This will be my 20th year teaching. I am originally from La Vista, Nebraska and a graduate of Papillion - LaVista High School. I graduated from College of Saint Mary with my Bachelors Degree in elementary (K-6) and early childhood education. While at CSM I was also a member of the golf, softball and basketball teams. I received my Masters Degree from Peru State College in Curriculum and Instruction with an Emphasis in Technology. I have taught several grades on my educational journey including 2nd, 4th, 5th and 6th. I am excited to begin my fourth year with Mount Ayr. Go Raiders and Raiderettes!!
I have been married to my husband for over 18 years. We actually met while we were both teaching and coaching basketball. He is currently serving as Superintendent of Bedford Community Schools and Mount Ayr Community School districts. We have four wonderful children who keep us very busy! Jaylee (sophomore), Kellon (freshman), Kynzlee 6th and Jaycee, a second grader. During my free time I love to head to the lake, hike, read, bike ride and spend time with my family!
I am really excited for the 6th grade to officially join the Middle School this year. I will be the math, science and computer science teacher. So I am a HUGE STEM fan. In addition to teaching I also enjoy coaching several sports. In addition to coaching my own children in numerous sports I coach Middle School Volleyball and High School Golf. When not in the classroom you can find me in a gym or on the golf course. Feel free to email me during the year with any questions you may have or use the the assignment book as way of communication. I am looking forward to a great year.
