I am a Title 1 reading teacher, 2nd-8th Grade TAG teacher, and I also help to coordinate and teach summer programs here at the Elementary. I have been teaching for 14 years now, with 12 of those years being at Mount Ayr Elementary. I graduated from Grand View College in Des Moines with a BA in mass communication, journalism, and broadcasting. However, after a year of working in the field I decided that my calling was teaching instead, and went back to school at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa to complete my teaching degree. After teaching for 5 years, I also completed my Master's Degree in early childhood education with the University of North Dakota. Most recently, I completed coursework to earn a TAG endorsement. I have taught preschool, junior kindergarten, kindergarten, Title 1 reading and math, first grade, third grade, and TAG.
My husband Kim and I live in Mount Ayr with our three children, two cats, a dog and a horse. I have a step daughter Abby, who is married and lives in Indianola. Together Kim and I have an 12 year old daughter, Kelbey, a 6 year old son, Hudsen, and a 1 year old daughter, Kembra. In my free time I enjoy reading, spending time with my family, and traveling.
